Healing as Labour of Love + Knee and Pinched Nerve Pain

Hi everybody. Dr. Michael Horowitz here, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Chiropractor and owner of Vancouver Orthotics. This month I’m sharing a secret close to my heart. I call it my Labour of Love. It’s about my passion, plus there’s a tip I’d love to give you when it comes to knee pain.   All this in recognition of Labour Day this month. A chance to enjoy the September long weekend and reflect on all the hard work we’ve put in to get where we are.   Our summer transitions to fall, it brings with it change…My Labour of Love has grown with me since I was 20 years old and discovered my passion for being a chiropractor. I loved the idea of treating patients naturally without medication, offering a hands-on approach and especially treating the source, not just the symptom itself.    Years later, I can truly say that this career choice had truly endured as a Labour of Love. I enjoy meeting new people, being of service and helping patients improve their posture and get out of pain; I enjoy problem solving and still believe that caring customer service and attention to detail makes people feel special and cared for. I am grateful to be able to do this, and its reward of joy and satisfaction in making a difference for my patients.  I also enjoy the educational component of the work that I do like creating YouTube videos to share information with you. We grow our social media to reach you with tips and to develop helpful information for you to access on our website. It is a lot of work, yet it’s all a Labour of Love for me!  Sharing the love of in person, high impact health care  Now, my passion for being a chiropractor is matched with growing the Vancouver Orthotics. This means you can now seek care to solve your foot pains and improve your posture ‘ground up’ with our professional Vancouver Orthotics team members at locations convenient to your home and work.   This month’s featured symptom is about:  Knee Pain, and also Pinched Nerve  * Your knee pain may be from a traumatic injury but it may also be from poor biomechanics and alignment and that starts from the ‘ground up’. Knee treatment is part of a pain puzzle so take these actions to solve it:  * Get a proper foot exam to discover potential causes of knee pain on the way to a proper diagnosis.   * The knee is one of the weight bearing joints that are directly affected by each step you take. An examination and custom orthotics go a long way to avoid unnecessary wear and tear.   * A pinched nerve is a more common occurrence than people realize:    * When you feel neck or back pain, there is a good chance that one of your spinal nerves is being irritated by spinal fixation or misalignment.    * Common versions of the pinched nerve are symptoms such as headaches and sciatica – but so are every day episodes of neck and back pain.   You can’t assume it’s just a muscle ALONE and that’s why we examine all patient who come in with symptoms.  Consider having your feet and spine examined to determine a need for Chiropractic Spinal Alignment and /or a pair of Custom Orthotic Inserts that can fit easily into your favourite shoes. You may be a candidate to benefit from better foot alignment, balance, stability and overall all shock-absorption. All this may also help improve your posture. You can have your footwear evaluated and your feet examined with the Electronic Gait Scan & the newest 3D Foot Scanning technology we use.   Remember perfect posture starts from the ground up. Please visit our website if you’d like more information on how to get rid of your knee pain or pinched nerve and how to improve your posture.
